SOLDIER’S WIDOW

10 years by, I am aging and wrinkling,Like my mother’s wrappers, forgotten deep down in the box of old clothes.10years and a morning, I woke up to hope10years and a morning, the sky looked happy10years and a morning, the messenger came bearing…“It was a war, one well fought. Our country remains grateful…I am sorry.”10years and a morning, the sky turned cloudy,It was a war, in my heart and on the field. Many years by, I am living and aching, wrinkling and fading, void and

formless.
