2016 Writivism Creative Writing Workshops

IMPORTANT: Get published here!

The 2015 Writivism Festival was as successful as it was exciting. The festival was preceded with workshops held on various dates in January 2015 in five different African cities: Lagos, Gaborone, Kampala, Dar es Salaam and Johannesburg.

Five writers – Adeola Opeyemi, Dayo Ntwari, Jane Nnedinma Kanu, Pemi Aguda and Saleeha Bhamjee – were eventually shortlisted for Writivism Short Story Prize and invited to the festival which was held in Kampala. Praxis Magazine for Arts and Literature created a memoir in which all five shortlisted writers were interviewed including Writivism guest Pa Ikhide. Writivism co-founder, Bwesigye Bwa Mwesigire also wrote letters to our Lead Correspondent, Jennifer Emelife, narrating details of the festival and taking us as far back as the first gathering that gave birth to Writivism. (read all interviews, Bwesigye’s letters, and others here.)
